One of the nicest things about paragliding in Mürren is that different times of day offer different kinds of magic. The views don’t change, but the way the air moves does — and that shapes the flight experience in a big way.
Here’s how we explain the difference between morning and afternoon flights in the Mürren–Lauterbrunnen region.
Morning Flights: Calm, Smooth, and Scenic
Mornings in Mürren are all about still air and serenity. After the mountains cool overnight, the atmosphere settles, creating very smooth flying conditions.
Morning flights are ideal if you:
- Want a relaxed, gentle experience
- Are flying for the first time
- Love quiet skies and crystal-clear viewsThe air feels calm, the valley below is peaceful, and the waterfalls in Lauterbrunnen really stand out in the soft morning light. These flights focus less on altitude gain and more on enjoying the feeling of floating effortlessly through the Alps.
Afternoon Flights: Longer, Higher, and More Dynamic
As the sun warms the mountainsides, the air becomes more active. Thermals begin to form, giving us rising air that allows for longer flights and more time in the sky.
Afternoon flights are great if you:
- Want to try for a Double Airtime longer flight
- Enjoy a bit more movement and energy
- Are curious about how paragliders gain height
- These conditions let us explore more of the valley, glide along the cliffs, and sometimes climb well above our takeoff point in Mürren. It’s a more engaging, adventurous style of flight.
Same Views, Different Feel
Whether you fly in the morning or afternoon, you’ll see the same dramatic cliffs, alpine meadows, and valley floor far below. The difference isn’t the scenery — it’s the character of the air.
Morning flights feel peaceful and meditative. Afternoon flights feel expansive and playful.
There’s no “better” choice — just the flight that matches your mood! In Mürren, both morning and afternoon offer unforgettable ways to experience the Lauterbrunnen Valley from the air.
